Luck

Tammy Stoner Pinkerton

The Egyptians had pyramids, the Chinese placed waterfalls, and everybody knows that there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Throughout the beginning of time, cultures have had symbols of luck directing good or bad fortune.

The rabbits foot brings fertility. The foot works when it is the left foot from a rabbit, and the rabbit has been captured from the cemetery. Keep this in mind the next time you carry the rabbits foot around. Make sure you have the left, and not the right foot.

The four leaf clover. Four leaf clovers are very rare, and have been considered lucky for centuries. Four leaf clovers are universal symbols of good luck. The next time you board an airplane, please show your four leaf clover with your boarding pass.

Frogs. In Feng Sui the belief is that a three legged frog is far superior then a four legged frog. The three legged frog will bring wealth and prosperity into the home. Don’t put frogs in bedrooms or bathrooms, just yet.  Don’t direct the three legged frogs prosperity down the toilet. Instead place it on a low shelf facing the front door.  You want the frog to magnetize wealth into the house, not throw money down the drain.

Frogs are associated with transformation in literature. With a kiss, the frog is transformed into a handsome prince. I don’t know why some shift back to toads.  Do we need to rub the back three times first? Are we putting them in the bedroom when we should put them by the door?

Wishing wells are places where you toss coins, that make a splash, make a wish, and send good fortune to the Gods. It might be why cities have set them up across our land.

Lucky Charms are not just a brand of cereal, they are trinkets worn around the neck designed to ward off evil spirits, and bring good omens. Do not eat the lucky charms, wear them.

Sapphires have brought good luck since ancient times. This beautiful blue stone, worn by kings is the birthstone for those born in September. Keep that in mind while snuggling in December or January.

Some numbers are luckier then other numbers, and seven might be the luckiest of them all. There are seven directions in the world. North, South, East, West, Up, Down, and where you stand, in the middle of them all.

When attempting to collect good fortune here is my advice. Dig around the graveyard, catch a rabbits left foot, then hop on down to the clover patch, and pick a four leaf clover. Jump around until you find a three legged frog, take him home, kiss him, and rub his back three times before he turns into a toad. Then hop, jump, and skip over to the wishing well, toss in a coin with a splash, and snuggle with your prince, on a low shelf by the front door.

Do this in December, seven times, while wearing a sapphire ring, and look up at the north star for guidance. Do these things, and good fortune will materialize.
