January: Garnet 

The red garnet is the birthstone for those born in January. Garnet is usually red, but sometimes has shades of orange. The stone is said to be a shield, protecting the wearer from injury, and because of this, it’s a popular gemstone during war time. In todays culture, that means anytime.

February: Amethyst 

Amethyst Gemstone is the birthstone for those born in February. Purple in color, amethyst is a relatively abundant gemstone. It is known as a symbol of royalty, and frequently worn by kings and queens. It frequently decorates the head coverings of religious leaders.

March: Aquamarine 

The Aquamarine gemstone is the birthstone for those born in March. A beautiful color aquamarine is the color of the sea. Blues, greens shimmer and shine with this gemstone. Sailors navigating treacherous waters might want to carry this gemstone with them, as its a protection for traveling seas. Bring it on a cruise.

April: Diamond

The diamond is the birthstone for those people born in the month of April. “Diamonds  are a girls best friend” may have been a popular song and everybody knows diamonds are the symbols for eternal love. Wedding and engagement rings,  are traditionally diamond. Diamonds are one of the four precious gemstones. They easily resist scratching.

May: Emerald

Emeralds are the gemstones for those born in the month of May. Emeralds a green color are one of the four precious gemstones. They are highly desired gemstones. They symbolize an ability to predict the future, and a heightened  intelligence. Remember Dorothy was following the yellow brick road on her way to Emerald City.

June: Alexandrite

Alexandrite is the birthstone for those born in the month of June. Chances are great that you have never seen your birthstone as few have seen this gemstone. It is rare and it is relatively modern as it was first discovered in Russia in the early 1900s.  (Don’t despair, you also have the birthstone of Pearl) Alexandrite is said to bring good luck and fortune, and romance. It is a very expensive gemstone. The unique feature of this gem is that it changes colors between reds and greens.

July: Ruby

Ruby is the birthstone for the people born in the month of July. Rubies are red, and symbolize the ability to protect one from evil forces in battle. Dorothy wore ruby red slippers to protect her from the evil witch. Rubies are a precious gemstone. They are one of four precious gemstones; emerald, diamond, ruby and sapphire. Rubies are associated with wisdom in the Bible.

August: Peridot 

Peridot is the gemstone for the people born in the month of August. Olive colored a light green crystal, peridot is considered a poor mans emerald. Peridot points towards the sun. It’s the gemstone for transformation, and change. Healing from addictions like drugs and alcohol, or nicotine, peridot, is the gemstone that can help.

September- Sapphire

Sapphire is the gemstone for people born in the month of September. If you were lucky enough to be born in this month, you have the stone of the soul, for your protection. Generally blue, sapphire can be found in many colors. This is a spiritual stone that will shield you from physical harm and injury.

October-Tourmaline

Tourmaline is the birthstone for the people born in October.  Tourmaline is a crystal and has a rainbow of colors. No gemstone has a wider color range than tourmaline. This is the stone that you want to carry when you want calm and balance. Need to sort through a crisis? Carry tourmaline. November – Topaz and Citrine 

Topaz and citrine are the birthstones for the people born in November. These two birthstones are often a case of wrongful identity. Both tend to be yellow stones, and both affordable, but they serve very different functions. Topaz is the birthstone to wear when you have a goal you want to achieve and attract the people into your life to achieve that goal. The goals might be love, business or another goal. December – Blue Topaz

Blue Topaz is the birthstone for the people born in December. Blue topaz has two variations, a light blue color called Swiss blue topaz, and a deep dark blue color called London Blue Topaz. The latter usually will cost more. Blue topaz is the most popular color of the topaz family. This is a calming stone, designed to recharge you. It promotes generosity of spirit.
